hisPANIC : facebook

I decided to post the facebook status of my friends when I feel that they are exposing a discriminatory comment to unrepresented groups. Also, to show you how uneducated and ignorant people can be. I have changed my friends’ names to XX XX, for security purposes. Please feel free to add any other comments of what you see and read, or how you feel.

9/30/2009 "XX XX hmm well this is sudden change of events... gay..."

9/2/2009 "XX XX A message to all emo's... Go hug ur dad"

8/24/2009 "XX XX
is there anyone in Human Sex @ 9:35?!? I'm surrounded by freshman and need an upper classman ally"
*** I found this status funny because every year I heard how upper classmates dislike the incoming freshmen. Obviously freshmen are an unrepresented group, they seem to face some kind of discrimination. No wonder why all freshmen are scare of upper classmates their first day of school.

8/21/2009 "XX XX would like to thank James for all his hard work over the summer....but not the Mexican!"
***
According to the U.S. Census Bureau about 15 percent of Mexico's labor force is working in the United States. One in every 7 Mexican workers migrates to the United States.
The proportion of Hispanic-origin people who are of Mexican background is 67 percent. Of the remainder, 14 percent are of Central and South American backgrounds, 9 percent Puerto Rican, 4 percent Cuban and 7 percent other Hispanic origins

11/4/08 "XX XX is GO McCain! No seriously because my dad and grandpa will both die of heart attacks if Obama wins"

9/22/10
"XX XX You don't call people who are retarded, retards. You call ur friends who act retarded, retards"

UNK is a Buffet of Activities

How is college? Is it fun, or will I want to come back home? Was it hard?
The answer to these questions can’t be answered until you have been on the UNK campus and experience college life. I can tell you more about my experience, but my experience is going to be much different then your experience. What is normal for me might not be normal for you. I believe anyone can leave UNK with a good sense of what is to come in the future. Your UNK life experience is a story yet to be written. A story filled with unexpected times, new emotions, new experiences, diversity, laughs, tears, smiles, and pictures that will encompass the many memories you will experience.

College is a once in a lifetime experience. You will experience so many things while you are UNK and you will leave UNK with more than just a degree. You will leave UNK knowing what you love to do. You will be shocked to see what you discover during your stay here. You will discover so much more if you make an effort to join an activity or organization. Reach out and make friends with others from across campus. This will give you the experience of a lifetime at college.
The University of Nebraska at Kearney has given me a lot of opportunities. I will never forget the experiences that I have had here. I have been actively involved in a variety of activities/organizations, such as: Student Government, Student Support Services, Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc., Hispanic Students Association, Nebraska Cultural Unity Conference, Chancellor’s Leadership Class, just to name a few. These activities/organizations have helped me to become more organized, responsible and a better leader. Also I have been honored and awarded a few times, as; Outstanding Latino Leader of Nebraska, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Intern, Sophomore of the Year, Chancellor’s Ambassador, Director of Student Organization Affairs, and a few other awards. I am thankful for the experiences that I have had while attending UNK because I have had the chance to dig into UNK’s buffet of activities. I encourage you to visit http://www.unk.edu/studentlife/organizations.aspx?id=508 get involved, and be a leader.
